Adolescent and Caregiver DBT Skills Group

An online skills group for adolescents and their caregivers to help them build skills to manage adolescents struggles with emotion dysregulation, self harming, suicidal ideation and impulsive behaviors.

DBT is an evidenced based therapy that targets 4 key areas that affect a person’s quality of life:

  1. Mindfulness – the ability to focus on one thing in the current moment without judgment  
  2. Emotion regulation – the ability to be in control with your emotions on a daily basis 
  3. Distress tolerance – the ability to make effective decisions when feeling strong/overwhelming emotions
  4. Interpersonal effectiveness – the ability to communicate effectively and maintain healthy boundaries in relationships

 

This group is open to all genders ages 12-17 (ages 11 and 18 will be considered after appointment with Tammy)

A caregiver MUST attend every session with the adolescent. 

Group will not meet the weeks of Memorial Day, Fourth of July, or Labor Day.

When: Saturdays 9-10:30AM starting April 11th

Tamara Hoyt is a Licensed Clinical Social Work (LCSW) at The Center for Mindfulness & CBT. She provides services for teens and adults with anxiety, trauma, depression, eating disorders, OCPD and BPD.
