Large Medical School Recognizes Mindfulness

Mindfulness is going mainstream in the medical community.  The first Division of Mindfulness has been created at The University of Massachusetts Medical School. No different than a division of dermatology or endocrinology, the new University of Massachusetts Medical School Division of Mindfulness  signifies the major role that mindfulness plays in medicine.

This development not only further supports the role of mindfulness in healthcare, but will also greatly add to the research in this area.

Here in St. Louis, one of our missions at The Center for Mindfulness & CBT is to spread mindfulness to more schools, businesses, and other organizations around the St. Louis area. This major advance in the field will help support our mission. Now, more than ever, people are recognizing the widespread applications that mindfulness offers in the entire healthcare system, not just mental healthcare.

We teach mindfulness courses for the general population at our center.

We also teach mindfulness in the  business community in the form of a one-hour lunch and learn, and are developing programs to implement at workplaces to specifically address the various needs of a business. For instance, since mindfulness has been proven to improve productivity at work, a mindfulness program at the workplace can be tailored to the specific type of work and challenges that the employees face.
