Carrie Dunning
Carrie Dunning received her Masters Degree in Counseling from Webster University in 1997. She has been working in the counseling field as a Licensed Professional Counselor since 2000 in St. Louis in a variety of settings. Prior to joining the Center for Mindfulness and CBT, Carrie was a mental health therapist at SSM Health for 17 years conducting both individual and group therapy in an outpatient setting with adults. She has worked in the Emergency Room at various hospitals as an intake counselor in crisis situations. She has also worked in private practice, with an insurance company, and in an agency in the past. Carrie has experience working with anxiety, depression, chemical dependency, stress, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, dual diagnosis, work conflict, grief, issues of aging, trauma and low self-esteem. Carrie believes it is an honor and a calling to work in the helping profession and to be there for people in their time of need. Her counseling approach is eclectic in nature and incorporates a variety of approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Humanistic Therapy, Strengths-Based, and Solution Focused Therapy. Carrie’s extensive experience in the field, in addition to working with many different populations, helps her to create a treatment plan that fits the unique needs of each individual that she counsels. She strongly believes in the human capacity for change and growth at any point in the life span. Carrie works with people in a non-judgmental, calm, collaborative and respectful manner. Carrie has a particular interest in counseling new moms/parents and helping adults with life purpose/life transitions. She completed a 200 hour yoga teacher training through Yoga Pipeline here in St Louis. Carrie is in-network with Anthem BCBS and Cigna.
