I am not afraid of storms, for I am learning how to sail my ship.

Madison earned a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology and is currently earning her Master of Arts degree in adult Clinical Psychology from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Madison is a clinical intern under the supervision of Laura Chackes, Psy.D. Madison’s interests include depression, anxiety, OCD, trauma, mindfulness, interpersonal issues, and difficulties with regulating emotion. Madison is interested in empirically supported treatments that address the cognitions and behaviors of individuals, like Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical-Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Exposure Therapy. She recognizes that the same power of individuals’ thoughts and behavior that lead to dysfunction can be changed to promote growth and change. Madison believes that healing is a collaborative process between the therapist and the client. The client is an active participant in that process and has the autonomy to make informed decisions about their health if they so choose. Madison believes that we are affected by everyday lives’ complexities, including our body, cognition, interpersonal relationships, and environment. She supports the intersectionality of how individual characteristics shape the human experience and is an ally to those in the LGBTQIA+ community. Because she is an intern Madison does not directly charge for her services, and therefore the center is able to offer these services for a lower fee.
