Mary Alice is a Provisionally Licensed Professional Counselor (PLPC), an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) and a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM). She received a Master’s degree in nursing from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a Master’s in Professional Counseling with an emphasis on Clinical Mental Health from Webster University. Mary Alice primarily works with older adolescent and adult women and parents. Her 25 years of experience as an Advance Practice Registered Nurse and Certified Nurse Midwife support her therapeutic work with women as they navigate life transitions such as pregnancy, postpartum adjustment, relationship issues, parenting, and changes experienced during midlife. She also works with women dealing with grief and loss related to infertility, miscarriage, birth trauma, pregnancy loss, and the loss of a child. Mary Alice believes clients already have the wisdom and
inner strength needed for change and therapy provides an opportunity for client growth and self-discovery. She helps clients clarify their thoughts, feelings, values, and motivations so they can live more authentic and meaningful lives. Mary Alice uses a holistic approach when working with clients and believes in the mind, body, and spirit connection. She incorporates Mindfulness, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) in her work. ACT helps clients develop more flexibility through mindful presence, openly accepting current emotional experiences, clarifying what really matters in life, and making changes which support one’s values.
Mary Alice welcomes all adolescent and adult clients with diverse needs and backgrounds to her practice.
