Sarah J. Maas

Sarah graduated with her Bachelor’s in Social Work in May of 2021 and has since been working on her Master’s in Social Work. She has experience working within the community in Jefferson County with children and teens to address mental health, transitions, and provide support within the home and school. She specializes in working with clients ages 7-18 who struggle with depression, anxiety, self-injury, life transitions (for children and young adults), processing trauma, and self-esteem.

Sarah uses a holistic approach which includes collaboration, strengths-based perspective, person-centered, and cognitive behavioral therapy to inform her work. She aims to create an inclusive, nonjudgemental, and compassionate space for all communities and acknowledges that every individual has their own unique expeirences. Sarah meets her client’s where they are to assist them in processing their emotions, addressing difficulties with anxiety, depression and self-esteem, assessing their readiness for change, and acknowledging and validating challenges that have discouraged them in the past. She feels confident that each person is capable of change and is motivated to help others experience progress, growth, and begin to heal.

Sarah believes that incorporating a holistic approach allows her to tailor each session to meet the client where they are. This allows Sarah to address the client’s needs and goals to increase their well being, interpersonal skills, promote self-reflection, empower, assist her clients in creating positive change, increased awareness, and positive growth. Sarah guides her clients through restructuring negative thoughts, challenging automatic thoughts, and developing healthy coping mechanisms by using creative outlets, journaling, and encouraging mindfulness. Sarah is committed to helping clients work to improve their overall mental health and quality of life, and she gives them the tools to cope with life’s challenges. As an intern, Sarah is able to offer services at a discounted rate of $55/session. Sarah is supervised by Sarah Saffold, MSW, Licensed Clinical Social Worker MO #2022035657 who can be reached at sarahs@mindfulstl.com and will be overseeing care all of Sarah’s clients.
