We work on ourselves in order to help others, but also we help others in order to work on ourselves

Seda Follis

Seda is currently a Graduate Student at the University of Missouri-St. Louis earning her Master’s in Social Work, as she transitions to her second profession. She received her bachelor’s in Statistics from Middle East Technical University in Turkey, and her first master’s degree in Economics and Finance from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville. After working at different corporations in the analytics field for twenty years, she had a moment to breathe and reflect in 2020. Her gut told her that she needed to look beyond the numbers. As she grappled with big data for many years, she became more aware of the lack of human connections in her profession. She is now dedicated to helping others and energized by making a positive impact one person at a time.
She believes that every human being deserves respect and the opportunity to live to their fullest potential in our interconnected world. She works with adults dealing with anger, anxiety-related disorders, depression, grief, life transitions and stress. She is an advocate and an ally for LGBTQ+, women of color, and other marginalized groups in society. Her role in the therapeutic relationship is to be a service to her clients and help them connect to their individual strengths in the context of their inner and external environments and resources.

Seda is a life-long learner and has been doing her own healing work for more than ten years. Her two core values are courage and learning, which guide her in aligning different modalities when she welcomes and meets her clients where they are in their unique journeys. She is in the process of learning and integrating different therapeutic approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Behavior Therapy for Anxiety-Related Disorder, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Exposure Therapy, Mindfulness, and Meditation.

Because Seda is an intern, she does not directly charge for her services, and therefore the center offers these services for a lower fee.
