You have power over your mind – not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength.
Marcus Aurelius

Parker received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and is a clinician in training. His clinical experience includes a psychological internship at Refuge 4 Kids trauma center, where he co-lead psychoeducational groups for parents, and is trained in various forms of evidence-based psychological intervention, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and others. He believes in the power of the therapeutic process, self-examination, and lots of hard work to overcome psychological and other life challenges and create a fulfilling and satisfying life.

Parker believes it is never too early nor too late to create change in a positive direction and is excited to work collaboratively with clients to identify and work towards goals, overcome challenges, and learn and grow as a person. Parker takes a largely eclectic approach to therapy to be able to tailor the therapeutic experience to each individual’s needs and/or preferences, incorporating the principles and techniques of CBT and ACT most heavily. He has two cats (Montgomery and Charmander) whom he loves dearly, and enjoys lifting weights, playing basketball, video games, and spending time with his family in his leisure time.

Parker is supervised by Laura Chackes, Psy. D., Licensed Psychologist #2006027463, who will be overseeing care for all of Parker’s clients.
