BFRB Workshops for Teens and Tweens

A 2-hour virtual workshop to support teens and tweens struggling with BFRBs

Kids and teens with BFRBs often struggle with negative self-image, stress related to urges to pick or pull, and guilt about doing the behaviors, on top of typical stressors like school, relationships, and sports. These workshops are a great opportunity to learn tools to manage the BFRBs and connect with others struggling with BFRBs in a safe and supportive environment.

These workshops will focus on building awareness of BFRBs using Habit Reversal Training (HRT) and mindfulness, and will teach cognitive-behavioral coping skills to manage the urges and behaviors. Participants will also gain support from peers who are also struggling with a BFRB.`

BFRBs are Body Focused Receptive Behaviors such as Trichotillomania (pulling of hair), skin picking, or nail biting. If your child struggles with any of these, this workshop would be a great opportunity to build skills!

This workshop will help your child:

  • Learn about BFRBs and how to become more aware of when they’re doing one
  • Gain support and connection from others who are experiencing similar difficulties
  • Practice healthy coping skills to reduce the behavior
