Our psychiatric nurse practitioners and psychiatrist provide psychiatric evaluations, medication management and pharmacogenomic testing. Our prescribers work collaboratively with our therapists to provide optimal treatment for children, teens, and adults. If you are unsure whether medication would be helpful for you or your child, our prescribers will help you to determine this by providing a thorough assessment of your social, emotional, and medical histories. They will then discuss treatment options with you, and follow you carefully if you decide to start or change a medication.

Pharmacogenomic testing helps narrow down medication options and minimize adverse effects. The data strongly supports testing those with depression in order to determine if they would respond to SSRIs.The test also has value for other mental illnesses, and can be used for anyone who would rather not have to use trial and error to find the medication that works best for them. It is also helpful for those who say they often have a lot of side effects with medications, and for those who have failed multiple medications. The test can identify metabolism issues (ultra rapid metabolizer, poor metabolizer) in the liver through the CYP450 pathways that would be factors in adverse and poor responses to medications.
