Embracing Imperfections Through Kintsugi-Inspired Healing

A 4-week, in person group for adults who struggle with perfectionist tendencies and other anxiety-related issues.

Do you…

  • Find yourself caught in the web of perfectionist tendencies?

  • Feel tired of avoiding and procrastinating on tasks that are important to you?

  • Crave a space to feel seen and accepted as your are with like-minded individuals?
  • Want practical tools and strategies to cultivate self-compassion and embrace your imperfections?

Welcome to our transformative therapeutic group designed for individuals navigating the challenges of perfectionism. In this supportive and engaging community, we draw inspiration from the Japanese art of Kintsugi to guide you on a journey of self-discovery, acceptance, and healing.

What to Expect: Our group sessions combine educational insights, mindfulness practices, and therapeutic techniques to create a holistic approach to healing. Drawing parallels between the art of Kintsugi and the journey towards self-acceptance, we delve into the cultural, psychological, and practical aspects of breaking free from perfectionism.

Key Components:

  • Interactive Learning: Gain a deeper understanding of the Japanese art of Kintsugi and its symbolic representation of imperfection, resilience, and beauty.

  • Mindfulness Practices: Immerse yourself in mindfulness exercises designed to enhance present moment awareness, reduce anxiety, and promote self-compassion.

  • Therapeutic Techniques: Explore evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including cognitive-behavioral strategies and narrative therapy, tailored to address and reframe perfectionist thought patterns.

  • Artistic Expression: Engage in hands-on activities inspired by Kintsugi, creating your own symbolic artifacts to visually represent and celebrate your personal journey of growth.

  • Group Dynamics: Experience the power of community support as you connect with others sharing similar struggles. Participate in open discussions, share insights, and build a network of understanding and empathy.

When and Where: Sessions will be held weekly on 4 Tuesdays at The Center for Mindfulness & CBT from 5:30pm to 6:30pm May 7-May 28. Our meetings will take place in-person, allowing for deeper connection, art making, and experiential processing.

Facilitator: Led by Amanda Fondow, an experienced mental health professional with expertise in mindfulness, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and expressive therapy.
