Grief Support for Adolescents Ages 11 to 16

A six-week, in person support group for adolescents struggling with grief

Navigating a grief journey alone can be lonely and full of challenges, especially in the years leading up to adulthood. Our grief support group offers a safe space to connect with other teens and adolescents that have experienced loss. Group participants will be able to honor their experience, process emotions, and make meaning through a wide variety of interactive creative activities each week.

This support groups will provide: 

  • an opportunity to be a part of a supportive community of grievers 
  • a safe space to share thoughts, feelings, and experiences surrounding the loss experience 
  • a place to just be, breathe, and normalize your grief experience
  • suggestions for coping tools and new ways to nurture yourself

When:

Six Wednesdays, June 12-July 24 (skipping week of July 4), 6 to 7:30 p.m. 

Where:

In-person at the Center for Mindfulness and CBT, 967 Gardenview Office Pkwy Creve Coeur, MO

Cost:

$35 per session, charged weekly. All sessions must be paid for regardless of attendance. A one-hour intake costing $55 is required.

Led by: Rachel Bolter, MA, PLPC and Becca Muder, graduate student intern

Becca Muder is an intern at the Center for Mindfulness and CBT and is currently a graduate student at Saint Louis University pursuing a Master’s in Social Work. Becca holds a Master’s in Theological Studies from the University of Dayton and, prior to pursuing a career in social work, she has been holding space for children, adolescents, and adults in various capacities for over ten years at nonprofits and educational institutions here and abroad. She holds a strong passion for addressing the emotional and spiritual needs of individuals experiencing grief after loss and recently completed a social work practicum experience with BJC Hospice’s bereavement team where she offered grief support to individuals and families in a variety of settings. 

Rachel is a Provisionally Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master of Arts in Counseling from the University of Missouri – Kansas City. She specializes in providing therapy to tweens, teens, and young adults with concerns including depression, anxiety, LGBTQIA+ identity questions, emotion regulation, and coping skills.
