Andrew is a Provisionally Licensed Professional Counselor (PLPC) and a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC). He earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Westminster College and his master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Webster University.
Andrew has served as a professional writer, musician, and artist and hopes to pull from these creative forces in helping children, adolescents, and adults to live more fulfilling lives. He also practices and teaches meditation and mindfulness techniques. Andrew believes in an integrative approach to counseling, where processing your values, passions, and life’s events are just as important as developing skills and strengths for you to practice independently throughout your life.
Along with the skills associated with cognitive-behavioral therapy (awareness in the relationships between thinking, emotion, and behavior) and mindfulness (focusing on the here and now), Andrew draws from the principles of narrative therapy. This is a collaborative, creative process to develop healthier personal stories and a future that breaks through destructive language and thought patterns.
Additionally, Andrew incorporates logotherapy to help you uncover your passions and purpose in life to help set goals and a healthy direction. Ultimately, he hopes to incorporate humor, irony, and metaphors to help break down barriers, broaden the language being used, and unlock the often-hidden, productive side to one’s story.
Andrew welcomes people of all ages from diverse backgrounds with diverse needs in life. To schedule an appointment with Andrew Conrad, please contact our Client Care Coordinator, Andrea Harpster, at 314-561-9757 option 1 or Andrea@mindfulstl.com.
