“There are no bad parts of you, just misunderstood ones.”
Richard Schwartz, No Bad Parts

Claycie is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the University of Missouri – Columbia. Claycie believes in the power of sharing one’s story and is committed to creating a space where this can be done safely, without judgment, and at the pace of the client. She specializes in working with anxiety and depression, grief and loss, trauma, religious trauma, and supporting those in the adoption community. She utilizes CBT, ACT, EMDR, and IFS in session with clients.

She believes in the importance of a collaborative, trusting relationship between client and therapist, and aims to work side by side with clients as they discover compassion and healing for themselves. Claycie understands how intimidating therapy can be (she has pursued therapy herself!) and believes in moving at a pace that is comfortable for clients, encouraging curiosity towards oneself and not judgment along a client’s therapy journey. Claycie utilizes aspects of CBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, EMDR, and Internal Family Systems (parts work) when working with clients, asking consent and input for what works best with clients along the way. She believes healing and lasting change can occur through understanding how past experiences shape how we view the world currently, and enjoys digging deeper with clients to understand root issues.

Prior to joining the Center for Mindfulness and CBT, Claycie worked for close to 10 years in the child welfare and adoption field. She is trained as an adoption competent practitioner and understands the complex nature of adoption. She has experience in supporting adoptive families and their children through various challenges as well as providing guidance through the search and reunion process for adoptive and birth families. Additionally, she has a strong interest in working with those affected by religious trauma and understands the care and sensitivity needed for these situations within the therapy space.

Claycie is in network with Aetna, Cigna, Medicare and UHC/UMR.
