MA, PLPC (in progress)
Lauren is a counselor in training working under the supervision of Laura Chackes, Psy.D. She completed her year-long internship here at the center and is now working towards obtaining her provisional license. With a background of studying and working in the medical field before making her transition to psychology and counseling, Lauren is passionate about the mind-body connection and using a whole-person approach towards healing. She also believes that knowledge is power when it comes to mental health and is an advocate for spreading mental health awareness. During her time as an intern, she primarily treated clients with OCD, anxiety disorders, and BFRBs, which she continues to be very passionate about. Additionally, she has developed a strong interest in helping clients with body image issues and Body Dysmorphic Disorder.
Lauren approaches therapy as a collaborative time with her clients and highly values client input to guide the course of therapy in addition to following research in the field and evidence-based practices. She uses an eclectic therapy approach by incorporating multiple therapy modalities to best fit the presenting concerns and client preferences. Her main modalities used include CBT, Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness, humanistic principles, person-centered therapy, and psychodynamic theories.
Lauren sees adults and older teens (15+) during her individual therapy sessions. She cannot yet accept insurance but will soon be able to accept a couple plans upon obtaining her provisional license. She is supervised by Laura Chackes, Psy.D., Licensed Psychologist MO #2006027463, who can be reached at email@example.com and will be overseeing care for all of Lauren’s clients.
