Rachel is a Provisionally Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master of Arts in Counseling from the University of Missouri – Kansas City. She specializes in providing therapy to tweens, teens, and young adults with concerns including depression, anxiety, LGBTQIA+ identity questions, emotion regulation, and coping skills.
Throughout her life, Rachel has dealt with her fair share of mental health struggles. Beginning in middle school and into her 20s, she was often depressed and anxious. Because of this, she sought therapy several times, sometimes with success and sometimes not. Therefore, she knows how incredibly hard it can be to start the process of seeking therapy. She is so incredibly proud of you for beginning this journey!
Due to her less-than-ideal experience in adolescence, after high school Rachel pursued a degree in education and taught middle school for several years in hopes of making a positive difference in the lives of her students. Rachel dreamed of becoming the type of teacher that she needed when she was younger! Throughout her career in education, she began to realize the struggles that her students faced and decided to obtain her Master of Arts in Counseling from the University of Missouri – Kansas City in hopes of helping young people to thrive and create lives worth living. Rachel is now a provisionally licensed professional counselor in Missouri and specializes in providing therapy to tweens, teens, and young adults with concerns including depression, anxiety, LGBTQIA+ identity questions, emotion regulation, coping skills, and much more.
Rachel’s ideal client is a young person who is hoping to work with a therapist who is down-to-earth, compassionate, and a kid-at-heart. She works from a person-centered, strengths-based perspective and incorporates interventions from DBT and ACT into sessions. Rachel accepts Cigna and Aetna insurance plans.
Rachel is supervised by Dr. Georgia Bomgardner, PhD, NCSP MO #2023014699 who can be reached at georgia@mindfulstl.com and will be overseeing care for all of Rachel’s clients.
