LPC
Darrel is an LPC who brings over 50 years of varied clinical, teaching, and administrative experience to bear on the work he does. He doesn’t believe CBT is a theory. He actually believes it’s the way human beings are created; that our belief systems and interpretations create emotional life and consequently how we live.
Darrel believes the relationship between the client and therapist is the cornerstone of success in the therapy. His approach to therapy is that the client is responsible for their therapy, and it is their therapy. He is there to help the client get what they want when they come to the therapy. He relates to each client with respect and treats each client with skill, compassion, and commitment. You will find Darrel is very human and believes therapy is one of the more difficult decisions to make, the hardest work you’ll ever do, but the best decision you could ever make. Darrel does not believe in “band aiding” problems. When clients leave therapy with Darrel, they know how they got where they are and the decisions that got them there, and they will have insight and solutions on how to go forward.
One of Darrel’s quotes is “if you can’t name it, you can’t change it.” When you complete therapy with Darrel, you’ll be able to name your journey and will have the understanding necessary to let go and accept your past. Your past will no longer dominate the parts of your journey that have been holding you back and keeping you stuck. In summary the ultimate goal of therapy for Darrel is “to get you unstuck from your past and the events that have kept you stuck and get you to living your life that you were put on this earth to live.” Darrel is committed to that. Darrel invites you to therapy and would be honored to have you as a client.
Darrel is accepting new virtual clients, and will soon be in-network with Aetna, Anthem BCBS, Cigna, Medicare, and United Healthcare.
