Kelly holds a Bachelor of Sciences in Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art from Illinois State University and is currently a graduate student in the Clinical Psychology program at SIUE. The focus of her coursework consists of evidence-based treatments including but not limited to: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Dialectal Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). In addition to coursework, her current research focuses on client perceptions of successful therapy outcomes and building the therapeutic alliance when confronted with societal stressors, such as political distress.
Professionally, Kelly has experience providing care as an Observational Patient Sitter, gaining hands on experiences as a supportive role for those experiencing suicidal ideation or intent, substance withdrawal, psychological distress, or cognitive impairment. Additionally, she has spent seven years working as a Nutritional Assistant within hospital settings, gaining experience in monitoring dietary progress and collaborating with dieticians to work towards dietary goals for patients in treatment.
Kelly has a strong interest in working with those impacted by trauma, sexual violence, or intimate partner violence. She approaches therapy as a collaborative process throughout treatment, emphasizing partnership towards shared goals and encouragement in creating positive psychological well-being. She strives to create a safe, supportive environment to encourage growth, emotional healing, and resilience. Kelly is committed to further development as a future clinician to support progress towards treatment goals and is open to exploring new techniques to better serve her clients’ desired progress.
As an intern, Kelly is able to offer services at a discounted rate of $55/session. Kelly is supervised by Josh Dunn, MA, Licensed Professional Counselor MO #2019024985 who can be reached at josh@mindfulstl.com and will be overseeing care for all of Kelly’s clients.
