Lauren is a licensed professional counselor (LPC) who received her Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in 2023. She completed her year-long practicum in her program here at The Center for Mindfulness & CBT in 2023 and has been employed here ever since. With a background of studying and working in the medical field before making her transition to psychology and counseling, Lauren is passionate about the mind-body connection and using a whole-person approach towards healing. She also believes that knowledge is power when it comes to mental health and is an advocate for spreading mental health awareness. She primarily treats clients with OCD, anxiety disorders, and BFRBs, and she additionally has developed a strong interest in helping clients who struggle with body image issues and Body Dysmorphic Disorder. Since Lauren worked under the clinical supervision of Dr. Chackes and co-led several rounds of our BFRB group therapy, she has become an expert in treating BFRBs.
Lauren approaches therapy as a collaborative time with her clients and highly values client input to guide the course of therapy in addition to following research in the field and evidence-based practices. She uses an eclectic therapy approach by incorporating multiple therapy modalities to best fit the presenting concerns and client preferences. Her main modalities used include CBT, Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness, humanistic principles, person-centered therapy, and psychodynamic theories.
Lauren sees adults and older teens (15+) during her individual therapy sessions. Lauren in network with most Cigna and Aetna plans.
