MSW, LMSW
Taylor is a provisionally Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) working under the supervision of Tamara Hoyt, MSW, LCSW. Taylor received her Master of Social Work from the Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis in 2021 and holds dual Bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Sociology from Maryville University (2019). Taylor has a background in elementary and secondary education settings as a School Social Worker and Mental Health Specialist, primarily serving middle and high school students.
Taylor’s experience includes participating in meetings related to multi-tiered systems of support, such as IEPs/504s, best-interest determination, students in transition, and student re-entry. Taylor is knowledgeable about trauma-informed principles and can articulate best Social Emotional Learning (SEL) practices and alternatives to exclusionary discipline, including restorative school practices. Taylor also has knowledge of school law, policies, special education, and maintains a current awareness of mental health disorders and challenges facing students. Taylor’s background includes work with child and adolescent development, family dynamics, children with ADHD and Autism, various therapeutic modalities, dialectical skills, and evidence-based interventions. Taylor is currently working on becoming a HeartMath® Certified Practitioner.
Taylor values the therapeutic relationship, placing importance on meeting clients where they are at and approaching the therapeutic process with the understanding that each individual is an expert in their own life. Taylor uses an eclectic therapeutic approach, incorporating aspects from various therapy modalities to best fit the needs of the Client. Taylor’s main modalities include Strengths-Based, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused, Person-Centered, and Mindfulness. Taylor also pulls from modalities such as Play and Art Therapy, Somatic Healing techniques, and Internal Family Systems (IFS).
Taylor typically works with pre-teens, teens, and young adults who fall under the umbrellas of LGBTQIA+ and Neurodivergence. Taylor believes in the importance of affirming spaces that allow all humans to feel human and live authentically as themselves. Taylor is a big advocate for genuine, honest self-expression and takes pride in uplifting others as they learn to love all of their parts. Taylor often enjoys incorporating humor, art, and the client’s special interests into sessions when appropriate.
When not practicing therapy, Taylor can be found reading, writing, creating artwork, listening to or creating music, singing, hiking, playing with her dog, spending time with friends and family, cooking, baking, learning, watching movies and series, and gardening.
Self-discovery, self-identity, self-expression, and life transitions can be scary to navigate alone; sometimes a safe space to explore and an opportunity to imagine something different for ourselves is all we need. Healing does not happen in isolation; healing happens in relationships and in community.
Taylor sees children (8+), pre-teens, teens, young adults, and adults. They accept most Cigna and Aetna insurance plans, or offer a lower self-pay rate of $120 per session, after an initial evaluation billed at $135.
She is supervised by Tamara Hoyt, MSW, Licensed Clinical Social Worker #1998005560, who can be reached at tammy@mindfulstl.com and will be overseeing care for all of Taylor’s clients.
